free Web hosting and Domain name

does anybody know of a truly free web hosting company with domain ??

i am okay with banner ads for the hosting company, just want to get some practice, live on the web.

the only free Web hosters i have found are just baiting for extra to charge money for, like free Web Hosting, but the domain name is 10 bucks,

Check with your ISP and see if you have free space that comes with it. Most like Comcast, Time Warner, ATT, Verizon all do and you don't need a domain name. Typically you would end up with something like user.comcast.net as the url but domain names have to be registered and nobody gets to create them for free since an ICAN fee is involved anytime on is issued. Be aware that almost all free hosting is either ad packed which can cause problems when you are learning with your code or very feature limited.

It seems to me that Microsoft Live maybe offering 1 or 2 page website.  Not sure how they do the URL though.

I have 2 websites on Yahoo.com servers.  After paying for the domain name, I am paying something like $7/mo for each one.

I prefer hosts such as http://hostgator.com where you can host multiple sites in the same hosting account. Just the way I do things.
